Vale Lunches with a Lake Concert Series

On March 1, Vale Living with Lakes Lunches with a Lake Concert Series presents students of Laurentian University’s Department of Music in performance. Featured will be soloists on clarinet, piano, classical guitar and horn, as well as a vocal duet. Admission is free. All series concerts take place at the Vale Living with Lakes Centre, 840 Ramsey Lake Road from 12:10 to 12:50 p.m. Parking at the Lakes Centre is limitedm so car-pooling is recommended. Foreigner in Sudbury

Foreigner is coming to Sudbury as part of their Cold as Ice tour. They’ll be at the Sudbury Arena on March 7. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

CKLU pledge week

CKLU 96.7 FM, Sudbury’s campus and community radio station, is holding a pledge week from Feb. 27 to March 6.

CKLU is the voice of the community with more than 50 passionate volunteer DJs presenting a wide variety of programming – from politics to music – seven days a week. CKLU is renowned for giving airtime to local and Canadian up-and-coming artists. CKLU plays everything from jazz to hip hop, country to classical, ska to folk, as well as many genres of rock.

You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown

Charlie Brown and the Peanuts gang are dropping by Theatre Cambrian.

You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown comes to life in a beautiful, bright and colourful way with a cheerful and multi-talented cast. With charm, wit and a little anxiety, the play takes us through a day in the life of Charlie Brown and his friends in the Peanuts gang.

This revue of songs and vignettes, based on the beloved Charles Schulz comic strip, is guaranteed to please audiences of all ages with musical numbers from the original cartoon classic.

You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown features Kalvin Blanchard as Charlie Brown, Hannah Waterson as Sally, Lindsay Dainton as Woodstock, Jeff Burton as Snoopy, Daniel Reynolds as Schroder, Jimmy Parsons as Linus and Katrina Makitalo-Bailey as Lucy.

The play runs from Feb. 28 to March 9. Comedian Shaun Majumder will perform a one-person show at the Fraser Auditorium on March 1.

Majumder is back

Shaun Majumder’s Hate tour comes to Sudbury on March 1 at 8 p.m. at the Fraser Auditorium.

Most famous for countless seasons as co-host of CBC’s This Hour Has 22 Minutes, as well as starring in his own TV show, Majumder Manor, he is also a favourite of the internationally renowned Just for Laughs Comedy Festival, having hosted the TV series for three seasons. His film credits include Harold and Kumar go to White Castle, The Ladies Man and Pushing Tin.

The Vagina Monologues

Laurentian University’s Women’s Centre presents The Vagina Monologues, by Eve Ensler. Directed by Sarah Gartshore and Lovette Nyembwa, this production will take place on March 2 at 7 p.m. at Laurentian University’s Fraser Auditorium, 935 Ramsey Lake Rd. Women and music

Join Laurentian University’s department of music for its Women and Music concert on March 3, in celebration of some of history’s finest female composers.

Laurentian students and faculty, as well as special guests Damien Laframboise, Dobrochna Zubek, Duo 46 and Triple Play, will be performing a series of romantic and contemporary works.

This concert takes place in the Laurentian School of Education, room SE-111 at 4 p.m. Parking will be available in lots D, G, C, B, E and A. Prices at the door will be $10 for students and seniors, and $15 for adults. Proceeds will be donated to the YWCA Genevra House.
