North Bay citizens showed kindness, compassion

North Bay Nugget

It is with gratitude and gratefulness I want to express our thanks to the citizens in North Bay whom we encountered in a great time of distress for our family on Aug. 14 through to Aug. 21, 2019. The kindness and compassion we received from everyone we came in contact with was overwhelming and appreciated.

• From the young man just trying to go to work at the hospital, who realized I was trying to go into the parking lot for hospital employees, who took the time to make it safe for me to back out and directed me to visitors parking, thank you. I am grateful that you took the time to understand and help me through my tears to get to where I needed to be. To all of those employees lined up behind me thanks and I’m sorry if I made you a few minutes late for work.

• To the aboriginal woman who was sitting on the couch and saw that I was very emotional and confused about where I needed to go to find my dad, thank you for not just telling me but for taking me by the arm so gently and guiding me to where I needed to be. Your kindness and gentleness is really appreciated.

• To all of the employees at CCU who treated my dad with such dignity and kindness, your professionalism, your patience in answering all of our questions, your understanding, your compassion for our situation, there really are no words to express our gratitude for what you have done for us and continue to do for so many. We mean everyone from this unit, from Tracy buzzing us in, the young man who cleaned the rooms, to all of the nurses, doctors, and doctor’s assistant, PSW it is because of what you do every day that so many lives are saved and families together.

• To all of the people that we encountered in the community from the banks, to the lawyers, the legion to veterans’ affairs, the superintendents of the apartment building, the kindness and compassion we received during our time of need was overwhelming and we are truly thankful to all.

In closing I believe there is no better services anywhere than at the North Bay Regional Hospital, the care was exceptional, and the resources accessible. The North Bay community has always held a special place in our hearts and we now experienced the calibre of kindness, caring and willingness to go out of the way to help others and for that we are thankful. On behalf of myself, Debbie Milne and all of the Wilkins family, thank you.
