OPP lay 40th impaired charge in North Bay detachment area

An East Ferris resident was the 40th driver to be charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle this year Saturday.

Ontario Provincial Police from the North Bay detachment were on patrol on Astorville Road at about 12:40 a.m. Saturday when officers saw a vehicle parked on the side of the road and stopped to investigate.

On speaking to the driver, officers detected a strong odour of alcohol. The driver failed a roadside test and was taken to the North Bay OPP detachment for further testing.

Jana Kyle Ohanlon, age 43, East Ferris Township, was charged with operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration 80 plus.

The accused was released on a Promise to Appear and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in North Bay Sept. 24.

The accused was issued a 90-day automatic drivers licence suspension and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
