Jessica Campbell is leaving the Seattle Kraken to explore new coaching opportunities after her contract expires. She made history as the first full-time female assistant coach in NHL history when she joined the team in July 2024.

As of early Tuesday, Campbell’s departure comes after four years with the Kraken. During her tenure, she also served as an assistant coach for the Kraken’s AHL affiliate, the Coachella Valley Firebirds, where she helped lead the team to two consecutive Calder Cup Finals.

The Kraken struggled in recent seasons, missing the playoffs twice and qualifying only once since their debut in 2021-22. Their record during the 2024-25 season was 35-41-6.

Campbell, now 33 years old and from Moosomin, Saskatchewan, has an impressive background. She played for Canada’s women’s hockey team at the world championship in 2015 and contributed to the Calgary Inferno’s Clarkson Cup victory in 2016.

Kraken general manager Jason Botterill expressed support for Campbell’s decision. “As Jessica’s current contract expires, she has expressed her desire to explore other coaching roles across the League and we support her in this process,” he stated.

Botterill praised her contributions over the past four years, noting her deep knowledge of the game and ability to connect with players. He emphasized that Campbell became a pivotal figure in promoting female coaches in sports.

There is speculation that Campbell will attract interest from other NHL teams due to her extensive resume, which includes a World Championship silver medal and three NCAA conference championships.

Emily Kaplan reported that it doesn’t appear Seattle has closed the door on bringing Campbell back next season. This leaves open possibilities for both sides moving forward.

In light of these developments, Campbell’s next steps will be closely watched by fans and analysts alike as she continues to break barriers for women in hockey.

The Laval Rocket have officially clinched a berth in the 2026 Calder Cup Playoffs following a decisive 5-1 victory over Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on March 14, 2026. This win not only secures their postseason spot but also highlights their strong performance this season.

With this victory, the Rocket have now reached the playoffs four times in the last five years, showcasing their consistency and competitiveness in the league. Their impressive record of 38 wins, 19 losses, 2 overtime losses, and 3 shootout losses has earned them 81 points, placing them six points ahead of their closest rivals in the North Division.

This season marks a continuation of the Rocket’s recent playoff success, as they reached the Eastern Conference Finals in both 2022 and 2025. Their ability to perform under pressure has been a hallmark of the team’s strategy, and this latest achievement further solidifies their reputation.

Dillan Bentley, a key player for the Rocket, has recently signed a two-year, one-way AHL contract for the 2026–27 and 2027–28 seasons. Additionally, he is currently on a professional tryout contract with the team for the remainder of the 2025–26 season, indicating the Rocket’s commitment to building a strong roster for future competitions.

The Laval Rocket are one of five teams qualifying for the Calder Cup Playoffs from the North Division, which adds to the stakes as they prepare for the upcoming postseason. Their recent form and strategic signings suggest they are well-positioned to make a significant impact in the playoffs.

As the playoffs approach, the Rocket’s performance will be closely monitored by fans and analysts alike. The team’s ability to maintain their momentum will be crucial as they aim for a championship title.

Details remain unconfirmed regarding any further player signings or changes to the roster as the playoffs draw nearer. The excitement surrounding the Laval Rocket continues to build as they prepare for this critical phase of the season.
