The project will add approximately 300 million cubic feet per day of natural gas transportation capacity. Construction is set to begin in July 2026, with a targeted in-service date in late 2028.

Officials estimate the project will contribute over $3 billion to Canada’s economy. It is also expected to generate more than $700 million in federal and provincial tax revenue.

Approximately 2,500 workers will be hired during construction. This includes individuals from local communities and Indigenous groups.

The expansion will involve new pipeline segments, additional natural gas compression, and upgrades to existing facilities. The Westcoast natural gas pipeline system spans 2,900 kilometers from northeast British Columbia to the Canada-U.S. border.
