“Our team has been decimated by the flu, so to win by 18 strokes with only four healthy players available is really next level,” said Ross Cash, head coach of the UNC Asheville women’s golf team, after their impressive performance at the Low Country Intercollegiate in Hilton Head, S.C.

The Bulldogs clinched the tournament title with a total score of 901 (+37), marking their first tournament win since 2019. This victory is particularly significant as it also represents the first win of Cash’s head coaching career at UNC Asheville.

Caroline Patterson led the team, earning individual medalist honors with a score of 217 (+1). Her performance was instrumental in securing the championship, as she was the only player in the tournament to finish under par.

Throughout the tournament, the Bulldogs showcased their skill and determination, shooting rounds of 304, 301, and 296. Notably, they were the only team to record a sub-300 round, highlighting their competitive edge.

Lauren Madson also made a strong showing, finishing in a tie for fourth place with a score of 224 (+8). Meanwhile, teammates Breanna Hoese and Jordyn Arts finished tied for 15th at 230 (+14), contributing to the team’s overall success.

This victory not only boosts the morale of the team but also sets a positive tone for the remainder of the season. The Bulldogs will return to the course on March 23-24 for the Pinetree Women’s Collegiate, where they will aim to build on this momentum.
