Amy Grant suffered a traumatic brain injury in a bike accident in 2022. Since then, her husband, Vince Gill, has provided crucial support during her recovery. Grant has faced multiple health challenges since 2020, including open-heart surgery and throat surgery.
Grant expressed concerns about her future after the injury. “What if this is all I get back? What if this is it?” she said. Gill encouraged her to take life one day at a time. He remarked, “Amy, life happens to every one of us every day… All you do is you just take the hand you’re dealt that day and live the life that you get.”
The bike accident left Grant unconscious for about 10 minutes. Doctors later discovered a cyst in her throat due to trauma from the incident. This cyst required surgery that lasted five hours.
Grant’s health issues have also led to struggles with depression. Yet, she emphasizes resilience through these challenges. “I’ve had to be very patient with myself… But everybody is recovering from something. That’s life,” she stated.
Amy Grant and Vince Gill married in 2000 and share a daughter named Corrina, who is currently 25 years old. Grant also has three adult children from her previous marriage to Gary Chapman.
Her upcoming album, The Me That Remains, set to release on May 8, 2023, reflects on aging and her experiences after these health challenges. The album aims to capture the essence of resilience amidst adversity.
