Ryan Strome has officially transitioned from player to broadcaster, joining Sportsnet as an on-air analyst for the NHL playoffs. He recently praised the Calgary Flames’ potential for a successful rebuild after being traded from the Anaheim Ducks.
Strome’s move comes after he was traded to the Flames on March 6, 2026. Before the trade, he finished the 2025-26 season with five goals and twelve points in just nineteen games.
Throughout his NHL career, Strome has played in 916 games. He has scored 174 goals and accumulated 501 points. His playoff experience includes five goals and nineteen points in thirty-seven games.
Strome was selected fifth overall by the New York Islanders in the 2011 NHL Draft. He later played for teams like the Edmonton Oilers and New York Rangers before signing a five-year deal with the Ducks in July 2022.
After joining the Flames, he expressed excitement about his new environment. “I was super pumped to be there,” Strome said. “I felt 10 years younger walking into the dressing room there, just rejuvenated and excited.”
He also highlighted Calgary’s positive culture and strong veteran presence. According to Strome, “Calgary has a good culture and good older guys, a good dressing room, a good vibe and a good staff.” These factors could play a significant role in their rebuilding efforts.
The Flames aim to capitalize on this transition as they look forward to potential success in upcoming seasons. Strome’s insights as a broadcaster may provide valuable perspectives on their journey ahead.
