The Ottawa 67’s were eliminated from the Ontario Hockey League playoffs early Tuesday. They lost 4-1 to the Barrie Colts.
This defeat means the Barrie Colts advance to the OHL Eastern Conference Final after eliminating Ottawa in five games.
Cole Beaudoin scored the first two goals of the game for Barrie. The 67’s managed to score one goal, thanks to Nic Whitehead late in the second period.
However, Barrie sealed their victory with two goals in the third period, including an open-net goal.
Meanwhile, as of midday, the Montreal Canadiens are engaged in a tight playoff series against the Tampa Bay Lightning. Both teams tied for points in the standings with 106.
Jakub Dobes is starting as goaltender for Montreal in Game 1 of this series. Yet, both teams face significant injuries — Noah Dobson confirmed he is out with an upper-body injury.
The Lightning will also be without their captain, defenceman Victor Hedman. This could impact their defensive strategy moving forward.
