Jon Rahm’s Settlement with DP World Tour Secures Ryder Cup Eligibility

Jon Rahm has reached a settlement with the DP World Tour, ensuring his eligibility for the Ryder Cup after a lengthy dispute. The agreement resolves issues over unpaid fines related to his participation in conflicting events.

As of early Tuesday, Rahm was the last European LIV member to settle terms with the DP World Tour. He had accrued outstanding fines since 2024, which he will now pay as part of the agreement.

The settlement allows Rahm to compete for the European team in the Ryder Cup and earn Race to Dubai points starting at the PGA Championship. He has multiple years left on his contract with LIV Golf, reportedly worth $300 million.

Rahm is a two-time defending individual champion in LIV Golf and currently leads the points standings this season, having achieved two victories and three runner-up finishes.

The Public Investment Fund (PIF) announced it will not fund LIV Golf beyond this season, which raises questions about future financial support for players. However, Rahm expressed confidence, stating, “I was never worried about that.”

Under the terms of his conditional release from the DP World Tour, Rahm must participate in at least four non-major events to maintain his membership. The next deadline for players to apply or reapply for membership is set for 2027.

Rahm emphasized that while “the Ryder Cup is still really, really far away,” he is relieved to avoid any worries leading up to it. Further developments regarding LIV Golf’s funding and player commitments are expected as the season progresses.
