lego — CA news

A new Lego mosaic called ‘Where We Grow’ has been unveiled in Saskatoon, Canada. The installation features over 256,000 Lego pieces.

As of early Tuesday, the mosaic is set to be displayed on the main floor of the new Central Library. It draws inspiration from native plants of Saskatchewan.

Robin Sather, Canada’s first Lego Certified Professional, designed the mosaic. He stated, “The beautiful thing about this mosaic is that everyone gets the chance to be part of this entire project.” This reflects his commitment to community engagement through art.

The mosaic showcases a vibrant palette with 30 different colors, marking it as the most colorful design by Sather to date. His work has evolved over more than 20 years in the Lego community.

In related news, a California man was charged with grand theft for a scheme involving Lego kits and pasta. He reportedly gained about $34,000 through fraudulent transactions.

Target has reported at least 70 thefts tied to this Lego scheme. Thieves are targeting these products due to their high resale value.

Meanwhile, preparations are underway for Lego’s annual May the 4th event. This year’s lineup includes eight new sets and exclusive freebies.

The most expensive set featured is the Ultimate Collector Series N-1 Starfighter priced at $249.99. The smallest and most affordable set is the AT-RT Attack at $44.99.

Among the highlights is the Lego Star Wars Grogu, Mandalorian Apprentice set, which contains 1,200 pieces. Yet, it remains unclear how these events will impact sales amid ongoing theft concerns.

Details remain unconfirmed regarding potential changes in pricing or availability due to recent theft incidents. The community remains hopeful for a successful launch of both the mosaic and May the 4th event.
