Scott Patterson Exits Sullivan’s Crossing
Scott Patterson has officially exited the show Sullivan’s Crossing due to creative differences, confirming he will not return for Season 4, which is set to premiere on March 22.
Patterson stated that the creative differences were becoming untenable, leading him to conclude that continuing on the show was not feasible. “The creative differences were becoming untenable and I just sadly realized that the show was not something that I could agree to continue,” he explained.
The actor expressed his fondness for his character, Sully, saying, “I fell in love with Sully and have nothing but fondness for him.” He felt it was important to clarify the reasons for his departure to fans, emphasizing that it was not simply a decision to walk away from the show.
At the end of Season 3, Patterson’s character Sully left for a trip to Ireland, which has now been implied to be a narrative decision as the show moves on from his character. Patterson indicated that he fought for the voice and character of Sully, stating, “The fans deserved better than to think the embodiment of this character, me, would just disrespect not only the show, but them.”
At 67 years old, Patterson’s exit marks a significant change for the series, which is based on novels by Robyn Carr. The show follows neurosurgeon Maggie Sullivan as she reconnects with her small-town past after a scandal.
