tamil nadu election results — CA news

Actor Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) has emerged as the single-largest party in Tamil Nadu’s elections, leading in 110 of 234 constituencies.

The ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) is ahead in 61 seats, while the AIADMK-led alliance is leading in 62 seats. This marks a significant shift in Tamil Nadu’s political landscape.

The TVK secured approximately 34.72 percent of the vote share, translating to about 1.18 crore votes. In comparison, DMK garnered around 24 percent with about 84 lakh votes, and AIADMK obtained 21 percent or about 73.93 lakh votes.

Vijay contested from two constituencies: Perambur and Tiruchirappalli East. He is leading in both, with a margin of 6,499 votes in Tiruchirappalli East at the end of the first round of counting.

The voter turnout reached an impressive 85.1 percent—the highest in Tamil Nadu’s history. This turnout reflects a strong public engagement in the electoral process.

Key quotes from participants:

  • K Annamalai stated, “I am happy to see that in my land, people have risen in one voice and spoken – no to buying of votes, no to dynastic politics, and yes to a generational shift in politics.”
  • Sivakarthikeyan congratulated Vijay by saying, “Congratulations to Vijay sir for achieving such a big victory and impact in his first election.”
  • TVK has made a significant impact across southern districts including Madurai, Dindigul, and Theni.

TVK’s performance cut across urban centers and rural constituencies, even penetrating traditional DMK strongholds. The results indicate a potential reshaping of alliances and strategies among Tamil Nadu’s established Dravidian parties.
