Céline Galipeau will leave her position as host of Le téléjournal after 18 years. She will start hosting a new international news program in the fall of 2026.
This new program will air live on Fridays at 8 PM on ICI RDI and will be rebroadcast on Sundays at 5 PM on ICI Télé and ICI Tou.tv. Galipeau aims to provide in-depth coverage of complex global issues.
Galipeau has been with Radio-Canada since 1984 and has worked as a correspondent for 14 years. She made history in 2008 as the first woman to host Le téléjournal.
Her last broadcast of Le téléjournal is scheduled for June 18, 2026. Throughout her career, she has received numerous journalism awards, including the Amnesty International Prize in 1995 and the Medal of Honor from the National Assembly of Quebec in 2018.
Galipeau has covered significant events such as the invasion of Ukraine by Russia and the COVID-19 pandemic. She expressed a long-held desire to pilot an international news magazine.
