Germany has summoned the Russian ambassador over direct threats against targets in Germany.
The threats are reportedly aimed at undermining Germany’s support for Ukraine.
As of early Tuesday, the Russian Defense Ministry published a list of 21 companies it considers subsidiaries of Ukrainian defense firms.
At least three German firms were identified as suppliers of drones to Ukraine.
The German Foreign Ministry stated that threats and espionage in Germany are unacceptable. “Our response is clear: we will not be intimidated,” it emphasized.
Dmitry Medvedev referred to the listed companies as potential targets for the Russian armed forces.
The Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs also summoned the Russian ambassador over similar threats against European nations.
Germany and Ukraine recently agreed on a strategic defense partnership, including cooperation in drone production.
Yet, the Russian embassy has not provided any comment regarding these threats.
The German Foreign Ministry described the threats as intimidation tactics directed at companies operating within Europe. “These direct threats against targets located in Germany are an attempt to undermine European unity and reduce support for Ukraine,” it stated.
Details remain unconfirmed regarding the specific implications of these threats on diplomatic relations.
As tensions escalate, both Germany and its allies remain vigilant about potential repercussions from Russia’s actions.
