swimming pool — CA news

The Bella Coola Centennial Pool has been completed and is now open to the public.

This new facility replaces an outdated pool built in 1967, which had fallen into disrepair.

Graham Pirie noted, “The old pool was in very poor condition,” highlighting the urgent need for a replacement.

The new pool is made of prefabricated stainless steel and serves as a hub for water safety training and seasonal programs.

It will cater to approximately 2,100 residents in the area.

The construction project was finished a month ahead of schedule, demonstrating efficient management by Chandos Construction and Berndorf Baderbau.

Looking ahead, the Embleton Community Centre is set to include an eight-lane competitive lap pool and a leisure/teaching pool.

This center is expected to be completed in late 2028 and has received significant funding—$64 million from the Government of Canada and $148 million approved by city council.

Patrick Brown stated that this center will be a “state-of-the-art recreational and community facility” for generations.

Details remain unconfirmed regarding any upcoming events or programs at the new swimming pool.

Further developments are anticipated as the community adapts to this modern facility.
