Winnipeg Pastor Charged with Sexual Assault of Teen Counsellor

winnipeg — CA news

A 23-year-old pastor and youth camp director, Carson Alexander Parago, has been charged with sexual assault in Winnipeg. He allegedly groomed a teenage camp counsellor and entered a sexual relationship with her.

The allegations suggest that the offences occurred between August 2025 and March 2026. Parago was arrested on April 30 after the Winnipeg Police Service received reports in March.

As of midday, he faces multiple charges: sexual assault, sexual exploitation, luring a person under 18, and distributing sexually explicit material to a person under 18. The alleged offences took place in Winnipeg and surrounding areas, according to police.

In a separate incident, a 40-year-old man was charged with killing a kitten and throwing a knife at a woman in a Winnipeg apartment complex. The woman confronted him after hearing the cat in distress and discovering the deceased kitten.

The man reportedly threw a kitchen knife at her but did not injure her. Upon his arrest, the Winnipeg Police Service seized the knife from him.

Authorities have not confirmed whether there is any connection between these two incidents. Both cases highlight serious concerns regarding safety and welfare in the community.
