Local Representation at the Forefront
“The people of Dawson Trail deserve a voice that answers only to them,” stated Bob Lagassé as he announced his intention to run for re-election as an Independent in Dawson Trail.
Lagassé’s campaign is centered on addressing local priorities, emphasizing the importance of representation that aligns with the community’s needs rather than party directives. Key concerns for residents include infrastructure, economic development, public safety, and community health.
In his remarks, Lagassé highlighted, “Responsible economic development can create opportunities for local families and businesses, but it must be done the right way and with the confidence of the people who live here.” This approach aims to foster collaboration with any party in government to ensure that the interests of Dawson Trail residents are prioritized.
Residents of Dawson Trail will have the opportunity to vote in the 44th General Election on or before October 5, 2027, as they look to shape the future of their community.
Flag Adoption in Dawson Creek
In a related development, Dawson Creek has adopted a new flag design featuring a silhouetted signpost inside a stylized grain elevator. This decision was made following a vote by councillors, which passed with a 5-2 majority.
Mayor Darcy Dober remarked, “Formalizing the official flag ensures future councils and staff are clear which flag is correct.” The new flag design was originally granted by the Canadian Heraldic Authority in 2008 but had not been utilized until now.
Councillor Charlie Parslow expressed his thoughts on the flag, saying, “It just seems so naked,” reflecting on the significance of the new emblem for the community.
As Dawson Creek embraces its new flag, the focus remains on fostering a sense of identity and pride within the community, paralleling the efforts of Lagassé in Dawson Trail to enhance local representation and address pressing issues.
